Multicast

What is Multicast, and when is it used?

The simplex platform supports you not only in the production of professional webcasts, but also facilitates the delivery with advanced technology. The tradition of moving picture data to multiple recipients is known to strain the network enormously. It can lead to a bottleneck, and either the quality of the transmission or the connection of the entire internal network suffers. To counteract this, we recommend to use: Multicasting.

What is Multicast?

Multicast is a broadcast from a sender to a group of recipients, where the transmitter is not depending on the number of recipients. The data packets are sent from the transmitter once only, and received by a number of receivers simultaneously (like radio), other than the normal Unicast, where each receiver is routed directly to the sender.

The load on the sender (server) can thus be significantly reduced and the network will be relieved.

Unlike to broadcasting with Multicast a recipient group  can be defined, where each recipient must log on to the transmitter. This in turn means greater safety by controlling.

When is it used?

Multicasting is especially used when many users view the same content simultaneously, for example live webcasts or events.  Only one signal is transmitted that can be viewed by multiple viewers. The condition is that the network is ready for multicasting. Please contact us for more details.

Peer-to-Peer

If many receivers in the same network want to receive a stream, the peer-to-peer technology can be used to relieve the network. With Peer-to-Peer streaming we offer a state-of-the-art solution in a user-friendly environment.

How does Peer-to-Peer work?

Caching

To enable the receiver to access a media as quickly as possible, a node can be formed by caching, where multiple requests are bundled and simulates only a single access on the server. Simplex support this process with the leading technology of caching boxes. They come for both on-demand and Live.

Webcast

Webcasting is an innovative way of communication to deliver internal and external objectives with video and presentation. Simplex Pro is the production studio of the simplex platform to start professional webcasts as on-demand or live version with a few clicks and stream to the desired target audience.
