Transcoding

Transcoding

The demand for high-quality video content continues to grow and so does the expectation of viewers to be able to watch videos anytime, anywhere on any device.

Transcoding converts an audio or video source file into another format. Video transcoding allows support for various devices and browsers and allows adaptive streaming. With adaptive streaming, the player automatically selects the best possible quality based on the available Internet speed when playing the video.

Live-Transcoding

Live transcoding converts the live video's incoming video signal into different qualities in real time. For example, if a live stream is sent in 1080p resolution, additional resolutions such as 720p and 480p will be created. This allows livestreams to be produced in high resolution and bit rate, and adaptive streaming ensures that users see the best quality possible with the available Internet speed and hardware performance.
The transcoding process can also perform other tasks. Thus, the video can be e.g. a logo or a watermark will be added.
