simplex Pro - Create and edit profiles

This tutorial will show you how to create a new profile in simplex Pro.

What are profiles?

Each author is able to create one or more profiles for his account. Profiles contain specific information so that future projects can be created without great effort and according to specific criteria.

Two profiles in simplex Pro

Once you have logged in to simplex Pro, you will see your author's account on the left side and underneath you will find two profiles: «Default» and «Automation».

With a right click you can go to «View Profile».

You can not make any settings in the profile if they are write-protected.

How do you activate "Editing Profiles" in simplex Manager?

Before you can create a new profile in simplex Pro, you must activate the "Editing Profiles" function in simplex Manager.

Step 1:

Open https://media10.simplex.tv/xmanager/ and log in. You will now reach the overview.

Step 2:

Then go to the top right on «Manage».

Step 3:

Search in the tab «Authors» for the desired author. With a double click or with the button "Details" you get to the projects first. Then switch to the "Accounts Settings" tab.

Step 4:

In the "Account Settings" you will find the following information:

Profile picture: You can upload a profile picture to your author account.
ID: Your author ID.
Created: The exact time when the author was created.
Last Modified: When the account was last changed.
Login: The username.
Company: Which company this author belongs to.
Firstname: first name of the author.
Last name: last name of the author.
Email: E-mail address of the author.
Password: The password of the author. It is mainly used to create a new password or to change an old password.
Retype Password: repetition of the author's password. It is mainly used to create a new password or to change an old password.
Account: Here you can decide whether the author should be activated or deactivated.
Editing Profiles: Here you can decide if the author can create profiles or not.

If you click «Enabled» you activate the function to create and edit a new profile within Simplex Pro.

Step 5:

Save your settings by clicking on «Update».

How do I create a profile in simplex Pro?

Follow these steps to create a profile in simplex Pro.

Step 1:

In simplex Pro, go to the left side of the «Profiles» section. Right-click to open a menu. Then click on «Add Profile».

Step 2:

If you want to rename the profile, you can do so by double-clicking or right-clicking on «Rename Profile». Then enter the desired name.

Step 3:

With a right-click you can then go to «Edit Profile». You will be taken to the "Encoder" section where you can select:

Formats like for desktop and mobile devices
Video settings such as bandwidth, frame rates and resolutions
Audio inputs such as bandwidth, channels and sampling rates
The option to always maintain the aspect ratio of the videos

Step 4:

With «Information» you can see the general information about the player installed in the profile.

Step 5:

Customization lets you customize the player with your logo, colors, and subtitle alignment. To do this, switch the switch to «Enabled».

Step 6:

With «Advertisement» you can integrate advertising before, during or after the video.

Step 7:

«General» offers you the possibility to define predefined titles, descriptions, keywords, etc. for each new project.

Step 8:

«Channels» allows you to specify to which channel or channels the videos are assigned.

Step 9:

Identify your favorites from a large number of languages in the «Subtitles» section. This selection is used when you need to create for different languages.

Step 10:

«Posterframe» sets the resolution of the poster frame (preview image). You can also upload and save a default poster frame.

Step 11:

And in the section «Slides» you can determine the resolution of the slides or simply select the original size.

Step 12:

With «Watchfolders» you can specify a folder on your computer so that you can automatically import, encode and upload videos to Simplex Pro. Set the switch from «Disabled» to «Enabled». Click on the «Browse» button and select which folder on your hard disk should be selected as a watch folder.

Then copy the videos you want into the watch folder. The videos are successively imported, encoded and uploaded to Simplex Pro. If you have activated the "Delete source videos" option, the original videos in the watch folder will be deleted. For each imported video, a separate project is created.

Step 13:

With «Sharing» you can copy the embedding link and connect simplex Pro to your YouTube account. Videos, which are then uploaded via simplex Pro, can then be published on YouTube. This requires you to connect and authorize your YouTube account with simplex Pro.
